Small-cap breakouts can move fast, but liquidity is the first filter for me. A chart can look perfect and still be difficult to trade if the spread is wide or volume disappears after the first candle.

Before entering, I want to know whether the stock has enough participation to support the move. I also check whether the breakout is caused by real news, a sector move, or just a quick spike.

The danger in small caps is getting trapped after the move. If buyers vanish, exits become messy.

I would rather buy a less dramatic breakout with reliable liquidity than chase a thin name that can move against me before I can react.
